# API keys

> What PilotWatt needs from FoxESS and Octopus — and what to revoke.

## FoxESS API token

| **Stored as**    | Encrypted in Neon — never returned to the browser after save                      |
| **Revoke**       | Delete or regenerate token in FoxESS; then Disconnect in PilotWatt Settings       |
| **Scopes**       | Device list, real-time data, work mode / scheduler (as permitted by FoxESS Cloud) |

## Octopus personal API key

| **Revoke**        | Regenerate key in Octopus developer dashboard; Disconnect in PilotWatt            |

## What PilotWatt does not need

* Fox Cloud or Octopus **passwords**
* Octopus **account login** for routine operation (only API key)
* Import meter details (unless you add import features later)
