# Your first recommendation

> Understanding the home screen after you connect.

Once FoxESS and Octopus are connected, open **Home**.

## What you'll see

| Card                      | Purpose                                                                               |

| **Tonight's opportunity** | Best action — export, store, or charge EV — with reason, Extra Profit, and confidence |
| **Export earnings**       | This month's settled Octopus export revenue (hidden until data settles)               |
| **Current plan**          | Plain-English status — what PilotWatt / your inverter is doing now and what's next    |
| **Yesterday's result**    | Forecast vs actual from last night's successful scheduler run (when available)        |
| **Live state**            | Battery %, solar kW, grid import/export                                               |
| **Manual override**       | Amber badge when you've used Force Export / Force Charge / Return to Automatic        |
| **Battery controls**      | Manual force export / charge / automatic                                              |
| **Rates chart**           | Agile export rates for the next 48 hours                                              |

EV charge summary on Home is **hidden in alpha** (detection still runs if enabled). Detailed earnings history is on the **History** tab.

## How often it updates

| Agile rates       | About every 30 minutes                         |
| Solar forecast    | About every hour (Planner tab)                 |
| Recommendation    | When live inputs refresh (cached \~30 minutes) |

## "No strong signal"

When export, store, and charge scores are within **5 points**, PilotWatt shows an **idle** recommendation — any option is roughly equal right now. Check again after the next rate window.
