# Earnings

> Export revenue, charging cost estimates, and history.

PilotWatt tracks **export earnings** from Octopus settled consumption data. Charging cost estimates come from scheduler logs.

## Home — Export earnings

When the current month has settled export data:

* **Export earnings** — sum of Octopus export revenue (London calendar month)
* Shown as the Home hero metric

Charging cost is **not** subtracted from this hero in alpha (estimates still appear on Planner / Yesterday's result where relevant).

Footer reflects Octopus lag — typically **24–48 hours** behind. Yesterday's figures may not appear until the following evening.

## History tab

* **Earnings chart** — week / month / year bars from Octopus half-hourly export
* **Scheduler log** — recent runs, export windows, estimates

EV history is computed when detection is enabled but **hidden from the History UI in alpha**.

Early in the month, the chart may show the previous month with a fallback note until current-month readings arrive.

## Planner

**Tonight's Plan** shows estimated export earnings and charge cost for the pushed schedule — forward-looking, not settled Octopus data.

## Why might my numbers differ from the Octopus app?

Octopus settles export data 24–48 hours after the fact. PilotWatt's week view shows a rolling 7-day window ending today, while the Octopus app may show a fixed calendar week. Today's earnings in PilotWatt may also include estimated data that Octopus hasn't settled yet.

If numbers look different, check back the following day once Octopus has settled the previous day's data.
